Simply Still: A Christmas Event

Many of you are in the midst of carting children to and fro, work projects, classes for yourself, and trying to keep up with the daily maintenance of the home. You have yet to begin thinking about the holidays! Yet, as they say, Christmas-time is a-coming!! If you suddenly grabbed your calendar, you probably already see multiple activities piling up one right after another. As the weeks quickly pass, more items will inevitably be added to the calendar.

The season of business has begun.

But what about the reason for the season?

Today I came across a blog post explaining a different kind of Christmas event, an event that will help to re-center hearts and minds to focus on the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior. You can read the original post by Leslie Bennett which explains the purpose and concept of the event in detail. There are also suggestions and links to aid you in your preparations.

While presented as a ladies event (which is a terrific idea!), the format may also be considered for a Sunday evening service as well. Remember, the point is to center hearts around the Savior, not necessarily as a fellowship time.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.  ~  Psalm 46:10

Stillness. Quiet. Reflection. Adoration. All qualities we need every day, but especially during the holiday season. Would you consider exchanging your regular ladies tea or cookie exchange for a time of stillness?
